ImproLAB 2021 is organised in collaboration with Rotvoll kunstnerkollektiv and offers an open space for movement and sound improvisation for artists from all disciplines in Trondheim.

In this ImproLAB we dive into the world of percussion with musician Martin Smidt. Playing with rhythm, working with imagination and embodiment of the sound are themes we will explore while navigating between similarity and contrast, known and unknown movement patterns. The interplay between sound and movement improvisation serves as inspiration for new expressions.

The ImproLAB is lead in English by dance artist Anna Thu Schmidt in collaboration with drummer Martin Smidt. The ImproLAB includes a workshop part with set exercises and an open Jam as a playground for movement and sound exploration. It is a FREE event supported by DansiT, FFUK, Trondheim kommune and Rotvoll kunstnerkollektiv.

ImproJAM/ImproLAB/ImproSTUNT wants to offer an open, free, and safe space for movement and sound exploration based on dance, music, and contact improvisation principles.

TRILOBITT har ligget i bløt i 18 måneder. Nå kommer de ut! Albumet kommer nyåret 2021, men allerede 2. desember hilser de på Trondheim. Vi tror det blir en fest sammen med de som får plass på Moskus.

TRILOBITT er den nye stemmen til fire velkjente ansikt fra Trondheims musikkscene.

Med vokalist og historieforteller Erlend Smalås i spissen av dette basstunge bandet kan du forvente finurlige riff og refreng, veldreide melodier, en viss galskap og surrealistiske tekster. TRILOBITT-blandingen er unik og overraskende, men samtidig inviterende, med referanser til indie pop, power jazz, 70-talls rock, poesi og spaghetti western.

Med splitter nye låter av Martin og Erlend vender TRILOBITT tilbake til det live-spilte, de rare historiene, de dansbare groovene. Sangtekstene er både emosjonelle og snurrige betraktninger på livet. I tillegg til tekster av Martin og Erlend dukker det opp ord fra diktere som Emily Dickinson, Alfred Tennyson og W. B. Yeats.

TRILOBITTs musikere har vært mange steder på kartet med musikkene sine, vunnet priser og stått på. Du kjenner sikkert spillerne fra lag som Dadafon, Rasmus og Verdens Beste Band, Spidergawd, Bárut, Glød, Ida Jenshus, Cirka Teater, Samvirkelaget, Fotefar og Hopalong Knut? I sin brokete og særegne 0-3-1-formasjon rykker Trilobitt fram uten forsvar eller unnskyldninger.

I likhet med sine navnebrødre, de forhistoriske leddyrene, har TRILOBITT overlevd et lass med sjangrer og epoker, og har med denne bagasjen en unik tilpasningsevne til dagens musikalske økosystem.

1 year after the grand opening Rotvoll Kunstnerkollektiv is now established as a company consisting of 62 professional artists within music, visual art, theatre/stage, photo and more. The organization consists of a board of 5 artists, and Martin Smidt as the manager/CEO of the company. The role of Rotvoll Kunstnerkollektiv as an important culture institution in Trondheim is increasing all the time. September 2020 was the Kickoff of Rotvoll Kunstscene - a series of concerts, exhibitions, performances and interartistic collaborations presented to the public by Rotvoll Kunstnerkollektiv.

The success of GARAGE goes on!

26.-27. March 2019: Cirka Teater, Trondheim (NO) at the Starke Stücke Festival showing outstanding international theater productions for young audiences in the Rhine-Main region

This Cirka Teater production (music by Martin Smidt) has received great reviews, and won the Hedda Prize for best stage design. After the premiere at Turneteatret Trøndelag 2017, GARAGE has toured extensively in Norway, France and Italy - and next week in Frankfurt, Germany.

It’s dirty, smelly, there is smoke, hissing sounds, sometimes something catches fire … two mechanics potter about a cluttered workshop. They are working on a new invention, which once set in motion takes over the entire workshop. Who has control now? Humorously and entirely without wordsm Garage deals with craftsmanship, creativity, the perpetual desire for progress and a chicken, who lays eggs.
